Actor Aamir Khan is debut as a Director through this film. TZP is produced by his own production house. Trio Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa composed music for this film. "'Taare Zameen Par' was a gift for me from the universe. I never expected to work alongside Aamir Khan and the role just happened to come to me," Tisca told in an interview. Aamir first approached Ar rahman for the music compose but due to unknown reasons the idea was dropped and music trio Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy made their presence.
